History
Joseph Smith Junior was born in December 1805. His mother was deeply
involved in the occult. In 1820 Joseph claimed he had a vision where God
told him that all churches were wrong.
Smith started the cult on 6 April 1830 in Fayette, New York.
Smith joined the Masonic Lodge in 1842, taught Masonic secrets to his
leaders later that year, and was expelled from the Masons for revealing
secrets. He was shot dead in a gunfight on 27 June 1844. (He killed two
and wounded a third before being killed.) He left over 40 wives, at least
seven of whom were still married to other men.
Brigham Young led the Mormons until his death in 1877, leaving behind
him 27 wives and 56 children.
In New Zealand since 1991 more people have left the cult than have joined.
Praise God.
